Kid City

From the time children are born until they graduate from high school we get 940 weekends with them. If your kid is in kindergarten, you have 636 left! If your kid is in grade 3 you have 468 to go! If your kid is in grade 3 you have 365 only! If your kid is already in high school then you know how few you have left! It happens fast! We want to partner with you to help your child discover and embrace a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

There are 3 core truths we want each child to know by the time they leave grade 5:

  1. "I can trust God no matter what"
  2. "I need to make the wise choice"
  3. "I should treat others the way I want to be treated"

How Do We Do That??? – By showing kids:

  1. that the Bible is the source of wisdom and truth
  2. how what they learn applies to their daily lives
  3. that relationships with small group leaders and friends matter

Luke 2:52 – "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."

Most kids form their entire idea of who God is and choose whether or not they'll have a relationship with him before leaving Grade 5!

That's why weekends are SO important to us!

This Month In KidCity - Summer 2010

Hey Parents !

Your kids are having a ball learning all about the "Fruit Of The Spirit" at KidCity! You can find out more about Testament of the Bible. Having a personal relationship with God and trying to live in a way the Bible suggests brings these fruit to our lives in very much the same way fruit grows on trees and plants in orchards. These fruit help us all to be successful in our most important relationships.

We'd like to help you help your kids develop their "fruit!" Come out Sunday mornings this summer and get a Fruit Of The Spirit Jar. It may just look like a jar filled with Runts candy but it's more! Every time you "catch" one of your kids demonstrating one of these "fruit" reward them with a candy. Be sure to tell them which "fruit" you see them using.

KidCity Parents

Hey Moms and Dads!

We know that looking for a new church can be scary because you want something great and safe for your kids! River City's - KidCity may be just what you're looking for since many of the staff are parents themselves and are committed to caring for your children as we spend time learning together and having fun! Statistics say that parents are 2 to 3 times more spiritually influential to their children than any church program - that's why there are so many regular take-home activities for families to grow together as they attend River City Church. Statistics also say that if families do not get actively involved in a church before their kids reach their teen years, the chance of their doing so in their adult years is slim. Your kids will interact with energetic, fun, fully trained and screened volunteers who are ready to introduce your kids to Jesus!

Registration opens every Sunday at 9:45am - kids and parents receive matching identification tags keeping safety and security a top priority at all times. Kids will roam around and take in fun activity stations with their small group leaders before heading into a time of live worship that's busy enough for the most energetic personalities. Kids will hear stories and ideas that have "pint-sized" application. They have the opportunity to follow-up those stories with games, crafts, rewards and prizes! The hour will fly by and your kids won't be able to wait to share all the details with you!

KidCity Safety First

KidCity Registration Security – all kids and parents registering in KidCity are given matching identification tags with numbers which are removed only when children are picked up parent/guardian with the matching i.d. tag at the end of the program. Once kids are registered, they do not leave the KidCity area. To provide additional security, parents are asked to take their kids to the washroom and enjoy the FREE continental breakfast before registering at KidCity (River City Cafe is open at 9:30am each week!). If your child should need you during the service, the number on your identification tags will show up on the big screen letting you know you should make your way to KidCity right away!

KidCity Volunteer Screening & Training – all volunteer staff in KidCity are screened by way of police background check (done every 3 years), specialized orientation for working with children in a program setting and having been regular attenders at River City for at least 6 months. The volunteers are energetic and innovative and they are committed to making sure that your kids have a fun and safe experience every week!

KidCity Health & Safety Standards – we hate "bugs" in KidCity but we know they're part of life! Everyone coming and going in KidCity is asked to use hand sanitizer to keep the passing of bugs at a minimum. We encourage parents to use the following health checklist when deciding whether or not to register their children at KidCity:

  • No fever within the last 24 hours
  • No diarhea or throwing up within the last 24 hours
  • Been taking anti-biotics for less than 48 hours
  • no discoloured nasal discharge (we're happy to wipe clear noses!)
  • no persistent cough (especially the wet, phlegmy kind)

KidCity Abuse Prevention & Reporting – a sad reality of the world we live in but we are committed to appropriate and legal abuse prevention and reporting practices. Please feel free to download our policy and review it for your own peace of mind.
