KidCity News
Bring your kids across city limits... KidCity limits, that is! Every weekend, kids up to age 10 will enjoy a full range of interactive, entertaining, hands-on activities that will suit every ability and interest level. Bottom Line? Kids will explore Biblical truths while having fun - done in the same contemporary and relevant ways adults experience "the big room!" There are activity stations unlike anything kids have at home, live worship specially designed to keep their attention and small group time to help them make connections from Bible stories to their own little lives! Every week kids get take-home "God-Cards" filled with great ideas to try at home! And parents can check in here every week for the "Fridge-Door" filled with great ideas for the whole family to grow together. Finally, be sure to pick up a copy of "Nurture" from our registration area – there's a new edition every other month. We're committed to helping families form spiritual foundations that will last a lifetime!
KidCity Blog
Raising kids today is tough work! There are all kinds of things competing for attention in their brains – everything from music to television, from the internet to playstation, from movies to friendships. Drop in our KidCity Family Village Blog and join the discussion among parents on the issues they’re facing in raising kids today. Our own KidCity Director, Barb Bierman, who is both a parent and an educator, provides some practical and spiritual tips for dealing with some of these issues along the way! Don’t "go it" alone – they say it takes a 'village to raise a child’ – we'll be your village!
KidCity Parents
Hey Moms and Dads!
We know that looking for a new church can be scary because you want something great and safe for your kids! River City's - KidCity may be just what you're looking for since many of the staff are parents themselves and are committed to caring for your children as we spend time learning together and having fun! Statistics say that parents are 2 to 3 times more spiritually influential to their children than any church program - that's why there are so many regular take-home activities for families to grow together as they attend River City Church. Statistics also say that if families do not get actively involved in a church before their kids reach their teen years, the chance of their doing so in their adult years is slim. Your kids will interact with energetic, fun, fully trained and screened volunteers who are ready to introduce your kids to Jesus!
Registration opens every Sunday at 9:45am - kids and parents receive matching identification tags keeping safety and security a top priority at all times. Kids will roam around and take in fun activity stations with their small group leaders before heading into a time of live worship that's busy enough for the most energetic personalities. Kids will hear stories and ideas that have "pint-sized" application. They have the opportunity to follow-up those stories with games, crafts, rewards and prizes! The hour will fly by and your kids won't be able to wait to share all the details with you!

KidCity Safety First
KidCity Registration Security – all kids and parents registering in KidCity are given matching identification tags with numbers which are removed only when children are picked up parent/guardian with the matching i.d. tag at the end of the program. Once kids are registered, they do not leave the KidCity area. To provide additional security, parents are asked to take their kids to the washroom and enjoy the FREE continental breakfast before registering at KidCity (River City Cafe is open at 9:30am each week!). If your child should need you during the service, the number on your identification tags will show up on the big screen letting you know you should make your way to KidCity right away!
KidCity Volunteer Screening & Training – all volunteer staff in KidCity are screened by way of police background check (done every 3 years), specialized orientation for working with children in a program setting and having been regular attenders at River City for at least 6 months. The volunteers are energetic and innovative and they are committed to making sure that your kids have a fun and safe experience every week!
KidCity Health & Safety Standards – we hate "bugs" in KidCity but we know they're part of life! Everyone coming and going in KidCity is asked to use hand sanitizer to keep the passing of bugs at a minimum. We encourage parents to use the following health checklist when deciding whether or not to register their children at KidCity:
- No fever within the last 24 hours
- No diarhea or throwing up within the last 24 hours
- Been taking anti-biotics for less than 48 hours
- no discoloured nasal discharge (we're happy to wipe clear noses!)
- no persistent cough (especially the wet, phlegmy kind)
KidCity Abuse Prevention & Reporting – a sad reality of the world we live in but we are committed to appropriate and legal abuse prevention and reporting practices. Please feel free to download our policy and review it for your own peace of mind.
